About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking an Entry-Level Test Engineer to join their THAAD ground test team. This role involves setting up and executing tests for the THAAD element, requiring some knowledge of Missile Defense systems and Hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) operations. The position is collaborative within a team environment but emphasizes individual contributions to complete test events, which can range from weeks to months. The work will be performed at the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration (S3I) Directorate on Redstone Arsenal. Off-hour scheduling (2nd and 3rd shift) and potential travel (CONUS and OCONUS) will be required as dictated by mission needs.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must hold a secret level security clearance. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in the candidate being ineligible for this position.
  • Ability to operate computer hardware running UNIX/LINUX based operating systems.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals of different experience levels and backgrounds.
  • Dynamic, highly motivated individual.
  • Demonstrate both technical and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with or knowledge of the THAAD weapon system or another BMDS element.
  • Prior experience working in or with military air and/or missile defense systems.
  • Experience with simulation war-games and exercises.
  • Working knowledge of Distributed Interactive Simulations and their Protocol Data Units.
  • Knowledge of Common Truth Interface messaging.
  • Understanding of the Joint Tactical Information Data Links (specifically Link-16).
  • Leadership Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate workstations including THAAD Fire Control and Communications (TFCC), THAAD Radar (AN/TPY-2 TM), Simulation-Over-Live-Driver (SOLD), Real-Time Integrated Simulation and Tactical Software (RISTS), Common Data Link Interface-Module (CDLI-M), and the Network Systems Integration and Test Environment (NSITE).
  • Learn individual component specifics for conducting tests, such as initialization parameters and specific test operating procedures.
  • Perform data collection and post-test processing of data.
  • Develop and write scripts to support and improve testing procedures.
  • Create, review, and adapt ground test procedures.
  • Aid in component level troubleshooting.
