About The Position

Intertek is seeking Entry Level Technicians to join their Electrical team in Cortland, New York. The Electrical business line at Intertek has over 100 years of product testing expertise, helping clients meet safety, performance, environmental, and quality requirements across various industries including Medical, Lighting, Renewable Energy, HVACR, Appliances & Electronics, Hazardous Locations, Industrial Equipment, Life Safety & Security, and IT & Telecom Equipment. Intertek operates as a Total Quality Assurance Provider, aiming to bring quality, safety, and sustainability to life. The Technician I role involves providing technical support to engineering staff through routine testing, maintenance, and clean-up, with potential for 10-15% travel.

Requirements

  • Ability to work Shift/Schedule: Full Time, 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday 4:00pm until 12:30am OR 3rd Shift, Monday-Friday 12:00am until 8:30am
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
  • Ability to use basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
  • Ability to travel, up to 15%

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification or associate’s degree in technical field
  • 1+ year of relatable experience in a HVAC laboratory environment
  • OSHA safety certificate
  • EPA 608 certification

Responsibilities

  • Set up test apparatus.
  • Perform basic analysis of test data and routine calculations.
  • Provide exceptional customer experience to all customers throughout the onsite testing.
  • Interact with customers in a professional manner including appearance and attitude.
  • Diligent safety practices, knowledge of OSHA standards, and use of safety equipment as required by management.
  • Work closely with lead/ crew members and take direction to complete projects within certain policies and procedures.
  • Daily cleanup and maintenance of projects, work equipment, work site, vehicles and organize all tools and materials.
  • Perform site survey activities with a team.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment.
  • Perform other work as required.
