Department 410 Future Plant Studies (FPS) Propulsion Plant Fluid Systems has openings for highly motivated engineers to support development of new propulsion plant designs. The role contributes to future submarine reactor and steam plant concepts that meet the U.S. Navy’s technical goals while minimizing development, acquisition, and life-cycle costs. The engineer will work in a multidisciplinary engineering group and lead teams developing new ideas and concepts through implementation. Work includes concept development for future propulsion plants, fluid-system design, analysis of impacts to safety, cost, schedule, performance, operations, and maintenance, arrangement integration to determine equipment locations on the boat, and component development to support the overall plant design. The position requires frequent coordination with multiple Electric Boat engineering disciplines, vendors, Newport News Shipbuilding, Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), and NAVSEA 08.
