About The Position

S&ME is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist to join our Environmental team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role offers hands-on experience in field and office settings across civil, geotechnical, and environmental projects for Energy, Industrial, and Government clients. You will work alongside licensed Geologists/Engineers on diverse projects such as power plants, pipelines, landfills, mining sites, dams, and stream restoration. This position is designed to help you build technical skills, gain field experience, and work towards professional growth while contributing to impactful projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a closely related field
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Geologist (PG) license within 4-5 years
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • College-level technical writing skills
  • Candidates must comply with our Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Only candidates with valid employment eligibility (I-9) will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Geologist in Training (GIT) certification

Responsibilities

  • Assist with hydrogeological investigations and environmental field work, including soil borings, monitoring well installation, soil and rock classification, in-situ permeability testing, and collection of soil, groundwater, and gas samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare data tables and graphics, compare results to state and federal regulatory standards, and contribute to technical reports.
  • Support construction and environmental inspections.
  • Communicate with vendors, project teams, and clients to ensure project progression.
