About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Geologist for the Greenville, SC office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects in accordance with Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), various South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) and North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) programs and other regulatory agencies. The selected candidate will conduct field tasks, including site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, and related work. The candidate may also provide office support for data management, report preparation, and maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Geology or other related degree.
  • Valid US Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.
  • Ability to travel up to 40-60% for fieldwork.
  • Ability to travel out-of-state to complete field work.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain medical clearance for driving and wearing a respirator.
  • Pass a drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical skills including Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are preferred.
  • OSHA 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training.
  • Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, ArcGIS, EQuIS are desirable.
  • Excellent oral or written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting environmental field work, including water level measurements and collection of soil, groundwater, soil gas, surface water and pore water samples in addition to field parameters.
  • Recording of remediation system data, soil logging, and oversight of field surveys, well installation oversight, well development, and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
  • Field document preparation, field data collection, processing, and interpretation.
  • Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
