About The Position

The Turbomachinery Operations manufacturing engineer rotation program was created with the intent of developing engineers to help sustain Solar’s manufacturing engineering organization well into the future. Solar has designed a development program that allows Entry Level engineers to work in and be exposed to several different Gas Turbine manufacturing environments. A manufacturing business unit and mentor will be assigned to the selected candidate upon arrival. The mentor will help in developing a learning plan that, when complete, will provide the experience necessary to become a full time, Charter Part, Manufacturing Engineer. The learning plan will include an 18-month assignment with rotations through four different Manufacturing Business Units. At the completion of the 18-month assignment and rotation, candidates will return to their pre-designated business unit, where they will work as a full time, Charter Part, Manufacturing Engineer for a minimum of 18 months. This position involves working with Manufacturing/Design Engineers, Shop Operations personnel, Tool Design and Cad Cam groups to develop and execute cost effective, stable manufacturing processes that support a safe and quality conscience work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or other relevant degree.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able and willing to relocate to San Diego, CA.
  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing engineering fundamentals.
  • Previous Internship and/or relevant work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A working knowledge of basic manufacturing engineering practices, tooling concepts, problem solving skills, analytics, and computer skills for component manufacturing is desired.
