In this entry-level accounting position that supports the OxyChem business in the Dallas corporate office, duties may include:

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (min 18 hours of accounting credit)
  • Must have a graduation date of Dec 2025 – May 2026
  • Must maintain minimum cumulative 2.85 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Minimum 2 extracurricular, leadership and/or work activities
  • Desire to pursue a career as an Accountant in the chemicals industry

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of information, analyze product cost data, monitor/reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure integrity and accuracy of month end accounting close process.
  • Support plant controllers and perform multiple functions of cost accounting
  • Assist business and manufacturing locations with analysis
  • Perform inventory accounting and reconciliations including LIFO/FIFO calculations and analysis
  • Complete Physical inventory trips to plants/warehouses/terminals and subsequent analysis/reconciliation of the product count
  • Perform sales & cost of sales analysis
  • Provide support and financial close responsibility for business segments including preparation and consolidation of financial statements, payroll, fringe benefits, insurance, cash, and receivables accounting
  • Analysis and monthly reporting of Balance Sheet and P&L account activity, as well as, cash flow forecasting, working capital and other sources and uses
  • Provide support for internal audits, external audits, government, and tax reporting
  • Provide support for SEC reporting (Forms 10-Q and 10-K) and assist with environmental, international and lease accounting and reporting
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and document accounting practices to promote best practices, task automation, and efficiencies while following generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls, and financial policies
  • Participate in safety programs, as applicable.
