About The Position

This entry-level Accountant I – Tax position focuses on supporting sales and property tax compliance activities within a structured, collaborative corporate tax environment. It is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or early-career professional to build a strong foundation in corporate tax while working with experienced team members and diverse stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and concepts.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, including journal entries and month-end close activities.
  • Ability to assist with financial reporting, including balance sheet and income statement support.
  • Proficiency in bank reconciliation and related account reconciliation processes.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with spreadsheets, formulas, and data analysis.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy when preparing tax returns, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Ability to organize and maintain thorough tax records and supporting documentation.
  • Professional attitude and communication skills suitable for a corporate headquarters environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns in accordance with applicable regulations and internal deadlines.
  • Prepare property tax returns and support the full property tax compliance process, including data gathering, calculations, and filing.
  • Reconcile tax assessments to tax invoices and assist with invoice processing to ensure accuracy and timely payment.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly tax accruals and ensure they are properly recorded in the general ledger.
  • Support sales and property tax audits by compiling documentation, responding to data requests, and maintaining clear audit trails.
  • Prepare monthly 911 tax returns and ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
  • Assist the tax department with special projects and ad hoc initiatives, contributing analysis, reporting, and process support as needed.
  • Maintain organized tax records and supporting documentation to facilitate reporting, audits, and internal reviews.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams on month-end activities, ensuring accurate tax-related journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Communicate professionally with internal stakeholders, including leadership, to provide information and updates related to tax matters.
