About The Position

We are looking for an Entry Laboratory Technician to be part of our Quality team in Calvert, Mobile County, Alabama. The objective is to perform laboratory activities under the guidance of a 1st or Laboratory Technician. This role involves performing chemical analysis of stainless-steel samples, including sample preparation according to ISO 17025 standards, and operating laboratory equipment while adhering to safety guidelines. This position requires working rotating shifts, including both 2 weeks day and 2 weeks night shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED minimum.
• Previous experience as materials tester, or metallographer is required.
• Experience in laboratory, and/or quality control/ assurance inspection.
• Ability to calibrate and adjust to proper settings the various tools and instruments.
• Functional level competency and proficiency skills with Microsoft Office, SAP, NiCo.
• Knowledge of use and routine maintenance of instruments and equipment.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Nice To Haves

• 2-year Associate degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Chemistry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sample preparation and operates testing equipment.
• Navigate LIMS to register samples.
• Perform different chemical tests according to ASTM and ISO 17025 standards.
• Support the interpretation of test results.
• Perform housekeeping in the lab.
• Participate in SOP audits the development of the testing procedures.
• Available for shift schedules.
