Entrepreneur in Residence - Gestational Diabetes Screening Startup

Alloy PartnersIndianapolis, IN
Hybrid

About The Position

One Health Studio, a venture studio of Alloy Partners, is seeking an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) to incubate a new company focused on improving gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) screening. The current screening process is outdated and burdensome. This role involves developing a company, tentatively named 'Sugar Mommas,' which will utilize continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and a standardized glucose challenge delivered as a home-based kit. The EIR will pressure-test the business thesis, validate it with patients and payers, and build the company from the ground up. Early opportunity framing, clinical evidence review, a regulatory strategy, and partnership conversations are already underway. The EIR's primary role is to transform this validated thesis into a launched company.

Requirements

  • A founder's track record: have founded a company, led a product from zero, or run a commercial launch end-to-end.
  • Experience in building something from nothing, understanding early-stage ambiguity, resourcefulness, and pace.
  • Real DTC or consumer health experience, ideally paired with women's health.
  • Experience building acquisition funnels, growing an owned audience, or converting and retaining customers.
  • Comfort selling into or working through Medicaid, health systems, or payer channels.
  • Technical fluency, direct or by proxy: either technical yourself or worked closely with technical teams to hire, manage, and partner with them.
  • Ability to demonstrate speed and clarity under ambiguity.
  • A real point of view on health equity, understanding its moral imperative and market signal.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in women's health, femtech, or maternal health (clinical, operational, commercial, or lived experience).
  • Experience navigating channel complexity in health plans, OB/GYN practices, or public payers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a sharp founding thesis on the GDM screening and diagnosis landscape.
  • Run rapid, rigorous customer and clinical discovery with patients, OB/GYNs, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, payers, and health systems.
  • Stress-test the two-track regulatory strategy (wellness positioning now, De Novo SaMD clearance in parallel).
  • Map the competitive and startup landscape to confirm where a new company can win.
  • Reach a go/no-go decision on the core concept.
  • Define the initial product scope and clinical protocol (CGM + glucose challenge + provider workflow).
  • Own and advance the corporate partnership pipeline (e.g., Dexcom, Eli Lilly, Abbott, Medicaid MCOs, Brazilian Ministerio de Saude).
  • Recruit technical and clinical co-founders with complementary depth.
  • Build early relationships with design partners and clinical validation sites.
  • Lead the Series Seed fundraise with One Health Studios' co-investment and support.
  • Earn the opportunity to lead the venture through spin-out as Co-Founder, subject to milestone achievement and mutual conviction.

Benefits

  • Base compensation: $12,500 per month as a 1099 contractor during the ~6 month incubation.
  • Estimated co-founder yearly salary after the company spins out: $150-200k.
  • Meaningful co-founder equity in the venture if the concept spins-out into its own entity.
  • Term: ~6 month engagement with the option to extend if needed, structured around delivery of key milestones.
  • Co-investment from One Health Studio.
  • Access to a venture-build team.
  • Access to a warm partner network (health systems, payers, corporate partners).
  • Support in recruiting technical and clinical co-founders.
