Forestar is currently looking for an Entitlements & Development, Sr. Director-FG. The right candidate is ultimately responsible for overseeing and driving entitlements, engineering and development for owned projects and new acquisition opportunities in a designated region. Provide training, guidance and regional oversight of project management, oversight of engineers, contractors, scopes of work, inspections of completion, creating, reviewing and certifying development budgets and bid processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
  • 10-15 years of applicable experience to include at least 5 years of supervisory experience as well as experience in the residential real estate industry.
  • Residential development (field) experience of at least 5 years.
  • Valid driver’s license and a vehicle.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field a plus.
  • Registered Engineer or Planner preferred.
  • Professional Engineer certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and provide support and training to divisions to ensure timely completion of division objectives in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Perform detailed review and analysis of entitlement status of prospective acquisitions on a continuous basis, including assessment of due diligence information and documentation.
  • Perform regional oversight of the completion, submittal, and approval of construction plans, including soliciting bids for engineers and other consultants, coordinating the submittal of construction plans, and more.
  • Perform regional oversight of the design and budgeting of “hard” and “soft” cost items of division projects, including conceptual planning, final construction documents, and development cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with local development teams in regard to onsite construction management of community development projects, including oversight of governmental acceptance of public improvements.
  • Provide regional oversight of the maintenance of all previously approved land use and development entitlements.
  • Maintain critical relationships within the private development community, state and local governmental and quasi-governmental authorities, and private engineering firms.
  • Provide input on selection of subdivision details for amenities and common areas (landscaping materials, screening walls, etc.).
  • Provide support in the preparation and review of internal investment committee memos for approval of acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with Region President and fellow region team members on initiatives for improvement.
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
