About The Position

Pocket-lint is seeking an Entertainment Author to join their team on a 1099 freelance basis. This role requires creating original, high-quality content about streaming, movies, TV shows, and entertainment tech in a timely manner. Pocket-lint is a leading authority in consumer tech, digital entertainment, and smart home gear, reaching millions of readers globally.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in writing and editing entertainment, pop culture, or tech content in the English language.
• Deep passion for movies, TV, and the streaming ecosystem is mandatory.
• Expert knowledge and broad familiarity with currently trending movies, TV shows, viral pop culture moments, and streaming hardware/platforms.
• Ability to think analytically; providing insightful commentary that applauds or criticizes industry developments and releases.
• Proficiency with SEO practices and experience using a custom CMS.
• A self-starter attitude with a passion for staying ahead of the entertainment curve.

Responsibilities

• Research and write original streaming guides, watch orders, feature articles, and breaking news specifically related to the entertainment space.
• Extract the core of a story quickly to deliver informative and timely reports in a fast-paced environment.
• Pitch unique, reader-obsessed entertainment topics and trending culture angles to our Editorial team regularly.
• Input work into our in-house CMS, as well as find and format images, according to our guidelines.
• Stay up to date on the latest movies, TV shows, streaming platform updates (Netflix, Disney+, Max, etc.), and industry news.
• Coordinate with the editorial team for assignments and feedback.
• Follow Pocket-lint’s general Editorial Guidelines while producing unique and high-quality content.
