About The Position

Assists in monitoring and maintaining the District’s interconnected servers, systems, and web applications. Maintains the District’s production website content and services. Assists in performing the integration of software platforms in support of the District and the ITS Department’s mission. Assists ITS Department leadership in the maintenance, design, and upkeep of the District’s datacenter, network, and storage area network (SAN) infrastructure. Performs security patching, software maintenance, and makes recommendations based on industry best practices for information technology security.

Requirements

  • Experience with Windows Server required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a large environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Information Technology or Computer Science.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Linux and FreeBSD preferred.
  • Experience with Hybrid Cloud (SaaS), Hyper-V, SCVMM, VMware ESXI, vSphere, VSAN strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Milestone Corporate VMS Systems strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Microsoft MCP or other Microsoft certifications are preferred.
  • VMWare VCP or other VMWare certifications are preferred.
  • Previous experience in K12 education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Web and Database Application Management: Possesses knowledge on how to use web programming tools. Acts as the primary point of contact for the District’s production website (FinalSite) and all forward-facing web applications. Maintains relationships with school SYSOPs to provide guidance and support for updating their specific websites. Assists in the co-management of PowerSchool with the Data Management department. Manages deployment and management of Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud, or other virtualized environments. Participates in working with vendors on the deployment of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS platforms.
  • Software Integrations and Management: Installation, configuration, and integration of software applications in Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, PowerSchool, and Classlink environments. Performs management and monitoring of the District’s AD Domain Services, Azure, and Google tenants. Interfaces with peer departments Data Management/Systems and City of Bridgeport ITS to ensure security, performance, and data integrity requirements are met. Monitors and maintains the District’s account lifecycle policies and practices. Supports and maintains policies for Microsoft Intune, Microsoft MECM/SCCM, Active Directory group policy, etc. Assists department leadership in monitoring and maintaining the District’s data governance policies such as DLP.
  • Interconnected Servers and Systems: Installation, configuration, and deployment of servers, such as Cisco UCS, Dell, HPE, or standard rack servers in a VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V Environment. Performs routine maintenance and software patching of VMWare ESXI, Microsoft Hyper-V Hosts, Windows, and various Linux and FreeBSD distributions. Monitors and maintains the integrity of the District’s data backup strategy and systems. Monitors and maintains the inventory of all District server, storage, and compute assets. Supports and maintains Microsoft monitoring and management systems including SCOM, MECM, SCORCH, SCSM, Thycotic, Cireson, Gravwell, and Derdack. Supports and maintains the District’s Malware software and services for both client and server. Knowledge of system infrastructure and environmental monitoring (SIEM) concepts.
  • Assists in networking and routing patching of network-connected equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by ITS Department Management.
