About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Principal Enterprise Sustainment Lead to serve as the senior integrator responsible for mission sustainment, operational performance, and enterprise readiness across a large-scale defense program or portfolio. This role operates at the intersection of operations, engineering, cybersecurity, workforce management, and program finance, ensuring that critical national security systems remain fully mission capable, compliant, and optimized. The selected candidate will act as a key advisor to Program Leadership and a primary interface to senior government stakeholders (O-6/GS-15/SES), with responsibility for sustainment strategy, execution, and continuous improvement across the enterprise. The Principal Enterprise Sustainment Lead is accountable for ensuring that mission-critical defense systems remain operational, secure, and fully staffed at scale, while driving continuous improvement, financial performance, and customer satisfaction. This role is critical to maintaining mission assurance for national security programs and positioning Leidos for long-term growth and recompete success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 12–15+ years of experience in Defense or IC programs or Enterprise operations, sustainment, or program leadership
  • Demonstrated experience: Leading large-scale sustainment efforts ($100M+ programs)
  • Managing cross-functional teams in cleared environments
  • Supporting DoD/IC customers and contract structures (CPFF, T&M, FFP)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Deputy Program Manager, Operations Lead, or Enterprise Lead
  • Expertise in RMF / ATO sustainment and/or DevSecOps or cloud-based sustainment models is strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting DISA, NSA, NGA, or other IC/DoD agencies
  • Master’s degree (MBA, Engineering, or related discipline)

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end sustainment execution for mission-critical systems supporting DoD/IC customers
  • Ensure system availability, reliability, and SLA/KPI performance across all operational environments
  • Lead incident response, recovery operations, and continuity planning for mission-impacting events
  • Develop and execute multi-year sustainment strategies aligned to mission evolution and contract objectives
  • Lead technology refresh and modernization planning, including DevSecOps and cloud sustainment models
  • Ensure alignment between current operations and future-state architecture
  • Oversee and influence program financial health, including forecasting, EAC, and margin optimization
  • Drive cost efficiency initiatives while maintaining mission performance and compliance
  • Support proposal development, BOEs, and recompete strategies
  • Develop and execute cleared workforce strategies to maintain full staffing and reduce attrition
  • Manage workforce forecasting, clearance processing timelines, Subcontractor integration and performance
  • Partner with recruiting and security teams to ensure sustained workforce readiness
  • Ensure enterprise adherence to RMF / NIST 800-53 requirements, ATO sustainment and continuous monitoring
  • Oversee vulnerability management, patching, and secure configuration compliance
  • Brief senior government leadership (SES, Flag Officers) on mission performance, risk posture, & operational status
  • Manage customer expectations, escalations, and performance discussions
