About The Position

The Software Engineer will define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The Software Engineer will also research, design, document, and modify software and specifications throughout the production life cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, or management information systems is required. Related professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Junior Enterprise Software Engineer: 1+ years AS400 or IBMi Development experience or 12 credits of AS400 or IBMi academic experience.
  • Enterprise Software Engineer: 2+ years AS400 or IBMi Development experience.
  • Senior Enterprise Software Engineer: 5+ years AS400 or IBMi Development experience
  • Ability to recognize and resolve system related problems; troubleshoot and debug code written by incumbent or others, work independently and make necessary decisions throughout the systems process within department guidelines.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and turn them into technical requirements, and develop solutions.
  • Must have the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Must be able to independently manage a heavy workload.
  • Must be able to mentor and share knowledge with other developers on new technologies.
  • Has strong communication skills.
  • Able to explain complex concepts to end users, and train end users on software.
  • Must be able to write documentation for end users or other technical personnel.
  • Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other computer components.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following technologies/platforms: Web services (SOAP, REST) IBM AS400 (cpf, db2, qsh, sysadmin) PHP Advanced SQL

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test and modify computer systems, programs and integrations.
  • Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.
  • Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
  • Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
  • Train end users to operate new or modified programs.
  • Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
