About The Position

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Officer is responsible for serving as a thought leader and subject matter expert to support the design, development, and implementation of one or more assigned ERM Programs. Supports aligned ERM Program Managers and ERM Risk Program Owner in the planning and execution of initiatives to support assigned ERM Programs. Ability to independently interact with leaders across the Risk Management Organization (RMO), business units, and control functions to support ERM Program execution and oversight. Serves as an advisor to the aligned ERM Program Managers and ERM Risk Program Owner to drive critical support activities including but not limited to, preparation and associated materials for meetings with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Business Unit Leadership, BURM Leadership, BUCRO Leadership, Risk Program Owners). The candidate must be located in one of the following locations as Truist 'in office' requirement is 5 days per week. No full remote or relocation assistance available at this time. Raleigh, NC - preferred, Charlotte, NC, Winston Salem, NC, Richmond, VA, Atlanta, GA. Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and training.
  • Ten+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge within own professional discipline and other related disciplines. Sound understanding of business and organizational strategies and processes.
  • Knowledge of the industry's competitive landscape and an understanding of the market and regulatory factors that shape the industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interpret and explain complex information to a range of audiences. Ability to influence others to adopt a new perspective and handle interpersonal issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and sophisticated skills in solving complex technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of business objectives and priorities.
  • Ability to lead projects of significant complexity and risk exposure. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Audit, Second Line, or Third Line Risk Management, with a strong foundation in enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Experience supporting risk framework components, including risk taxonomy, risk assessments/ratings, risk policies, and governance processes.
  • Technical aptitude to maintain and enhance risk management tools and reporting solutions, with the ability to support existing technology, automation, or coding-based processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drives critical elements of the design, development, implementation, and oversight of one or more assigned ERM Programs (e.g., Issues Management Program, Risk Measurement Program, Policy Management Program) to support the aligned ERM Risk Program Owner.
  • Supports and facilitates assigned ERM Programs policy and procedure documentation, training, communication and oversight activities across the enterprise.
  • Executes key components of the design and delivery of Quality Assurance related to assigned ERM Programs, including the testing strategy, outputs, and reporting for management and/or board level committees to demonstrate program effectiveness.
  • Coordinates with and supports Business Unit Risk Managers (BURMs), Business Unit Chief Risk Officers (BUCROs) and Risk Program Owners ensure assigned ERM Programs requirements are understood and executed appropriately.
  • Provides thought leadership, subject matter expertise and indirect leadership within the broader ERM organization to plan and execute key strategic initiatives related to assigned ERM Programs.
  • Supports critical components of assigned ERM Programs presentation materials for key internal stakeholders (e.g. Business Unit Leadership, BURM Leadership, BUCRO Leadership, Risk Program Owners, Management Committees) and external regulators, including the associated preparation for ERM Leadership team.
  • Communicates regularly and escalates risks associated with execution of ERM Programs to the applicable ERM Program Managers, ERM Risk Program Owner and ERM Leadership team.
  • Work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
