About The Position

This role is responsible for supporting and troubleshooting GIS applications for business users, creating presentations and workflow diagrams, and developing project plans. The specialist will consult with end users to create documentation, analyze test results, and train users on new or modified programs. The position also involves researching emerging application development software and working with external vendors to ensure efficient implementation of software products or systems. The ideal candidate will stay updated on technological advances in programming languages and client/server technology.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in GIS or related field
Five years related experience performing complex geospatial analysis and providing mapping solutions in the Gas Utilities or Energy Sector
Expertise in Esri's applications and software including: Utility Pipeline Database Model (UPDM), Utility Network (UN), ArcPro, Enterprise, Portal, ArcGIS Online, Web Dashboard and Experience Builder, Esri Field Maps
Programming Language: Esri Arcade and Python
Operation and Mobile Applications
AutoCad
SQL Server
SAP Experience
Construction Management Application experience such as LocusView.
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with little or no experience or knowledge of the technical area.
Requires the ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric, and geometric operations, analyses involving ratios, percentages and moderately complex statistical and/or accounting methods.
Requires a very high level of computer skills to use and/or understand various programming languages for writing, modifying, and executing programs.
Expertise in GE Smallworld/ Gas Distribution Office, Esri Utility Network (UN), Esri ArcPro, Esri Enterprise, Portal, ArcGIS Online, Esri Web AppBuilder, Esri Field Operation and Mobile Applications, SQL Server
SAP Experience
Construction Management Application experience

Responsibilities

Create presentations and workflow diagrams for GIS processes and results
Support and troubleshoot business users with GIS Applications
Develop project plans in collaboration with other stakeholders
Effectively communicates related GIS initiatives to other stakeholders
Consults with end users to create documentation relating to the program definition, development, business requirements. Documentation includes software objectives, deliverables, and end user specifications.
Analyzes test results, formulates modifications, and implements solutions to problem areas
Prepares and writes reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.
Trains end users to operate new or modified programs.
Conducts research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
Works with external vendors to assure efficient implementation of software products or systems.
Keeps abreast of new and changing technological advances in program languages, utilities, tools and client/server technology to assure achievement of optimum results.
