About The Position

The Enterprise Data Steward I is responsible for supporting established data governance, data-literacy, and self-service analytics processes by maintaining data definitions, metadata, ownership records, training resources, and data-quality documentation. This position monitors routine data-quality concerns, escalates issues, protects sensitive information, and assists employees with locating, understanding, and appropriately using trusted organizational data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field; OR four (4) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree, in addition to the minimum years of required experience.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in data governance, data quality, analytics, business intelligence, master data management, reporting, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of data governance principles, stewardship practices, metadata management, and data quality concepts.
  • Familiarity with documenting business definitions, business rules, data elements, and governance-related information.
  • Experience working with data to identify, document, and escalate accuracy, completeness, consistency, or validity issues.
  • Basic understanding of data lineage, reporting processes, and the relationship between source systems and business reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain data concepts to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to follow established governance policies, standards, procedures, and controls.
  • Experience working collaboratively with business users, analysts, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to data accuracy, documentation quality, and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience using data analysis, reporting, governance, or metadata management tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain business glossary terms, data definitions, metadata, data ownership records, and governance documentation in accordance with established standards.
  • Perform routine data quality monitoring and identify issues related to accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and validity.
  • Document data quality issues, track remediation activities, and escalate concerns to the appropriate Data Steward, Data Owner, or technical team.
  • Assist with documenting business rules, metric definitions, data lineage, and relationships between data sources, reports, and business processes.
  • Maintain data quality scorecards, issue logs, decision records, and other governance artifacts.
  • Follow established policies and procedures related to data access, classification, privacy, retention, security, and appropriate use.
  • Assist employees with locating and understanding approved data definitions, certified data sources, dashboards, reports, and governance resources.
  • Provide basic guidance on data interpretation, responsible data use, and common data quality considerations.
  • Support enterprise data literacy and self-service analytics initiatives through training, user support, and maintenance of approved learning materials and documentation.
  • Document user questions, governance requests, and data concerns, escalating complex issues involving metrics, access, data quality, or analytics development to the appropriate team members.
  • Participate in governance meetings, training activities, and stewardship initiatives while developing knowledge of enterprise data governance practices.
