Under the general supervision of the Data and Automation Manager, the Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s data architecture strategy to enable trusted, secure, and effective use of data in support of Energy Trust’s business objectives. The Enterprise Data Architect translates business priorities into a coherent enterprise data architecture, defining standards for data models, integration, and analytics across transactional and analytical systems. Working closely with staff across the organization and with external technical and delivery contractors, the Enterprise Data Architect establishes a shared vision for how data is structured, integrated, and governed to improve data quality, decision-making and reporting. In addition to strategic leadership, the Enterprise Data Architect performs hands-on architecture and design work, including developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models, designing data integration patterns, and contributing directly to key data initiatives. An essential responsibility of this position is owning and working closely with a variety of database-focused projects, processes, tools and systems that accommodate the organization's large, complex datasets (including, but not limited to utility customer information, weather data, financial data, aggregated reporting datasets, and data warehouse ETL processes). The role balances pragmatism with best practices - implementing standards that fit Energy Trust’s current business model while remaining scalable for future growth. The Enterprise Data Architect acts as both a thought partner and a builder, ensuring that data solutions are well-designed, documented, and sustainable, and that teams across the organization can confidently use data as a strategic asset. This individual works as part of the IT team and uses proven management, analytic, technical, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills to help maximize the capabilities and use of the Energy Trust’s business system. This role serves as an integral part of the IT Department and, as such, may be called upon to perform other IT duties. This position is expected to report to the Portland office quarterly at a minimum for all staff and other in-person meetings.
