About The Position

Interns are responsible for actively participating in HCSC’s formal internship program that leverages your skills, knowledge, and capabilities while providing meaningful experience supporting business objectives and member-focused solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams in both business and technical areas, the Intern will contribute to project work, analyze information, and support the development of solutions that address organizational needs. The Intern is responsible for learning and applying specific aspects of the organization's processes, programs, and technologies while demonstrating increasing independence and ownership of assigned deliverables. This ten-week paid internship can be located in Chicago, IL or Richardson, TX.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree; rising senior with a major in business analytics, computer science, data analytics, or information technology. Other majors may be considered.
  • Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Available for the full duration of the 10-week program.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to collect, analyze, review, document and communicate business needs and requirements.
  • Ability to develop and improve business processes and assist with the development of metrics.
  • Practical, developed PC skills, especially Excel, Word, and Access

  • A strong understanding of information systems, business processes, the key drivers, and measures of success for the business, and the short- and long-term direction of the business and technology

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams in both business and technical areas.
  • Contribute to project work, analyze information, and support the development of solutions that address organizational needs.
  • Learn and apply specific aspects of the organization's processes, programs, and technologies while demonstrating increasing independence and ownership of assigned deliverables.
  • Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.
  • Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Support departmental initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.
  • Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results, and recommendations.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of company business and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies.
