About The Position

The Division of Marketing & Communications tells the story of Texas A&M and promotes and protects the Texas A&M brand. We achieve our goals through: Messaging, Branding, and Brand Oversight. The Communications Specialist IV, under supervision, writes, edits and supports content curation and coordination for distribution via the university’s enterprise communications channels for the Division of Marketing and Communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications or a related field
  • Five years of communications and/or marketing experience
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage quick turn timelines and balance competing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills, ability to prioritize work and manage within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to write clearly

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience in higher education communications
  • Ability to analyze complex information and transform it into simple, direct communications
  • Experience in the management of email marketing platforms
  • Experience in digital accessibility of electronic information resources
  • Demonstrated editorial skills to support consistency and clarity in messaging
  • Ability to communicate in writing, over the phone, and in person effectively to achieve desired outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development, editing, and distribution of internal email communications for senior leadership, which may include the Office of the President and President’s Cabinet
  • Reviews and edits communications materials to ensure clarity, consistency, accessibility, and compliance with established editorial and brand standards
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to support the preparation and delivery of email communications
  • Supports review and approval workflows to ensure materials are accurate and aligned with organizational messaging
  • Maintains email communication tools and systems, including updating distribution lists, audience groups, and user access within established platforms
  • Assists with scheduling and coordinating email communications using the university distribution calendar
  • Supports efforts to align messaging schedules and maintain consistency across internal communications
  • Tracks communications tasks and requests using project management tools to support timelines and workflow coordination
  • Assists with updates to email templates, audience lists, and routine communications audits
  • Participates in project meetings and supports execution of email communications for key initiatives
  • Coordinates with internal teams to support delivery of communications across channels
