About The Position

The Enterprise Business Analyst works with various business areas to identify and define their business needs related to a project or production support initiatives. At times in a lead role, the Enterprise Business Analyst is responsible for planning, developing and managing requirements to inform the design for the solution, ensure that business needs are met, and ensure that business impacts resulting from the solution are acceptable. Facilitates solutions to business problems through process improvement, impact analysis, strategic planning and, in partnership with IT, through systems development. Employees who live within 30 miles of the TMG home office are expected to follow a hybrid or in-office schedule. The initial training period may require additional in‑office days.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and applicable work experience.
  • Successful completion of formal business analyst training program is preferred.
  • Four (4) to Eight (8) years of related professional business experience or business analysis experience.
  • Proficient understanding and use of business analysis concepts (business process reengineering, context diagrams, business rules, business requirements, user stories, use cases, etc).
  • Strong planning, facilitation, communication skills, conflict management, and change management skills.
  • Results oriented, self-motivated individual with a proven track record of taking ownership.
  • Experience with a variety of project management and software development lifecycles (Examples: Waterfall, Agile, Iterative, RUP etc).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, etc).
  • Understands and employs business analysis concepts (business process reengineering, context diagrams, business rules, business requirements, user stories, use cases, etc).
  • Strong planning, facilitation, communication skills and ability to develop conflict management, and change management skills.
  • Results oriented, self-motivated individual with a proven track record of taking ownership.
  • Basic understanding of project management and software development lifecycles (Examples: Waterfall, Agile, Iterative, RUP etc).
  • Demonstrates the ability to use commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
  • Convey clear, concise information to others, using verbal or other appropriate communication techniques.
  • Treats others in a nondiscriminatory, lawful and ethical manner, respecting the differences among people, and the value they bring to GuideOne.
  • Follows safe practices in all work activities to avoid injuries and accidents.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the financial services industry or property/casualty insurance preferred.
  • Experience with 3rd party software packages.

Responsibilities

  • Relationship Management, Change Leadership and Communication Partners with business leadership to develop business idea documents, cost benefit analysis and feasibility studies.
  • Assists with RFI and RFP development and proof of concept as needed.
  • Proactively resolves customer satisfaction issues.
  • Sets realistic customer expectations for project delivery and adjusts customer expectations in accordance with changes in scope.
  • Follows a logical process and presents cost/benefit data and alternative solutions in a way that enables decision making.
  • Clearly articulates the role of technology in terms easily understood by business constituencies

  • Defines Acceptance Criteria and testing considerations, and reviews and approves test plan, test cases, and test results, as appropriate.
  • Participates in User Acceptance Testing in partnership with the business and project leadership.
  • Partners with Project and business leadership to identify process changes, communication and training needed to prepare for new software and solutions.
  • Helps the business meet its objectives and goals through understanding how work is being conducted, and gaps in process or functionality necessary to effectively meet the business objectives.
  • Uses interviewing and facilitation skills to elicit requirements from business stakeholders.
  • Defines the scope of requirements in collaboration with other Business Analysis team members or in a leadership role within a project team.
  • Manages ambiguity and creates accurate project effort estimates.
  • When applicable, develops a formal requirements plan for the project, detailing the business analysis work structure, artifact inventory, estimates, approach and specific Business Analysis skill sets needed.
  • Captures business problems and non-functional requirements precisely and consistently.
  • Identifies emerging business requirements.
  • Ensures non-functional requirements meet service level agreements.
  • Prioritizes problems to surface the most critical needs.
  • Intelligently questions business partner and knowledge worker preferences to identify unique value drivers.
  • Properly prioritizes competing business demands, and business line and enterprise demands.
  • Elicits high-level business requirements and refines iteratively to ensure that the features requested by the users align with the software and business goals.
  • Accurately translates business requirements into functionality.
  • Collaborates with Development resources, communicating the business needs and providing input on potential solutions.
  • Obtains technical input from the Development team throughout the requirements process.
  • Assesses the risks of various solution options to different options.
  • Presents ideas in a concise, focused manner and guides team decision making.
  • Works in a variety of assignments, independently, or as a core member of a larger project team, and at times in a lead role.
  • Schedules and facilitates requirements walk through meetings with business and IT staff.
  • Resolves requirement issues and updates documentation.
  • Secures all necessary approvals for deliverables.
  • Ensures proper long term storage of requirements for reusability and future updates.
  • Surfaces potential impacts of solutions on all stakeholders and provides business partners with an accurate view of challenges to end-user buy-in.
  • Identifies the current state of processes, eliciting useful and harmful attributes
  • Identifies impacts and linkages to the business strategies, policies and rules, and the organization’s people, data, systems.
  • Documents models of processes and manages changes to them.
  • Facilitates stakeholder groups to consensus on new process designs.
