About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in the Utilities and Energy sector to assess, analyze, and transform enterprise technology landscapes. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating the current-state IT environment, determining organizational and technology maturity, identifying capability gaps, developing strategic roadmaps, and leading execution of transformation initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge business and technology, engage with executive stakeholders, and drive enterprise-wide modernization programs across applications, infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, cloud, OT/IT convergence, and digital transformation domains.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of enterprise architecture, technology strategy, or digital transformation experience.
  • 8+ years of experience within the Utilities and Energy industry (mandatory).
  • Proven experience conducting enterprise-wide technology assessments and maturity evaluations.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise transformation roadmaps.
  • Experience working with large-scale utility environments consisting of both IT and OT systems.
  • Strong understanding of: Enterprise Architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, Gartner EA), Business Capability Modeling, Application Portfolio Assessment and Rationalization, Cloud Architecture (Azure, AWS, GCP), Infrastructure and Operations Architecture, Data Platforms and Analytics, Enterprise Integration and APIs, Cybersecurity Architecture, Operational Technology (OT) Architecture, Digital Transformation and Modernization Programs, IT Operating Models and Governance, Utilities & Energy Expertise (Mandatory).
  • Hands-on experience with technologies and platforms supporting: Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), SCADA Systems, Distribution Management Systems (DMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Customer Information Systems (CIS), Workforce Management, Grid Modernization Programs, Utility Data Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of enterprise IT landscapes, including: Business capabilities, Enterprise applications, Infrastructure and cloud platforms, Data and analytics ecosystems, Cybersecurity controls, Operational Technology (OT) environments, Integration architecture, Governance and operating models.
  • Assess organizational, process, technology, architecture, and digital maturity using industry-standard frameworks.
  • Evaluate current-state architecture against strategic business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Identify capability gaps, technology debt, operational inefficiencies, and transformation opportunities.
  • Facilitate executive workshops, stakeholder interviews, and architecture reviews.
  • Develop current-state, target-state, and future-state architecture models.
  • Define Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Create multi-year transformation roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
  • Develop business cases, investment priorities, and modernization strategies.
  • Recommend technology platforms and architectural patterns that support scalability, resilience, security, and operational excellence.
  • Lead strategic transformation initiatives from assessment through implementation.
  • Translate architecture vision into executable programs and projects.
  • Partner with business leaders, PMOs, technology teams, and vendors to execute roadmaps.
  • Establish governance structures to ensure architecture compliance and successful delivery.
  • Monitor transformation outcomes and measure value realization.
  • Provide industry expertise across: Electric Utilities, Gas Utilities, Renewable Energy, Transmission and Distribution, Generation Operations, Grid Modernization, Smart Metering (AMI), Asset Management, Field Operations, Customer Information Systems (CIS), Energy Trading and Risk Management, SCADA and Operational Technology environments.
  • Understand utility regulatory requirements, operational processes, and industry-specific technology landscapes.
  • Support modernization initiatives involving Grid Operations, Digital Utilities, DERs, Smart Grid, ESG, and Energy Transition programs.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to executive leadership, CIOs, CTOs, and business executives.
  • Present assessment findings, maturity scores, recommendations, and transformation strategies to senior leadership.
  • Build consensus across business and technology stakeholders.
