About The Position

The DON BEA Enterprise Architect supports development, validation, and compliance of Department of the Navy (DON) Business Enterprise Architecture. This role develops required DON BEA architecture artifacts, validates system alignment to capabilities and operational activities, and ensures accurate modeling of interfaces and data exchanges. The architect applies MBSE practices and may optionally use ARIS to create authoritative, defensible models that guide Navy enterprise decision making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, and 5+ years of experience, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (DON BEA, DoDAF, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to create architecture views including OV 5a, CV 2, CV 6, CV 7, SV 1, SV 5b, EV 7, DIV 1, and related products.
  • Experience validating system enablement of capabilities, operational activities, interfaces, and data exchanges.
  • Strong analytical skills for mapping system functionality, behaviors, processes, and data flows.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Sec+ Certification.
  • Secret Clearance, Must Have Clearance to Start.

Nice To Haves

  • Optionally use ARIS to create authoritative, defensible models.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain architecture artifacts consistent with DON BEA and DoDAF standards.
  • Produce required architecture deliverables, including OV 5a, CV 2, CV 6, CV 7, SV 1, SV 5b, EV 7, DIV 1, and additional views mandated by DON BEA policy.
  • Ensure traceability between capabilities, operational activities, system behaviors, and data representations.
  • Support alignment of systems to DON operational activities (OAs), capabilities, and end to end (E2E) categories.
  • Use DON BEA‑prescribed architecture taxonomies (dictionary frameworks) to classify capabilities, operational activities, data, processes, and system attributes accurately.
  • Validate system enablement of capabilities, operational activities, interfaces, and data exchanges.
  • Assess the completeness and correctness of system mappings to mission requirements, processes, and data structures.
  • Identify architecture gaps, inconsistencies, and integration risks.
  • Support defensible architecture assertions for DON BEA governance reviews.
  • Use MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, Enterprise Architect, ARIS) to build, update, and validate integrated architecture models.
  • If available, apply ARIS to represent processes, capabilities, OAs, and system interactions in alignment with DON BEA modeling expectations.
  • Maintain consistency and configuration control across all architecture models.
  • Apply model based methods to develop authoritative, single source of truth architecture artifacts.
  • Integrate data from systems such as DITPR DON, PBIS IT, ARIS (when used), and authoritative system documentation.
  • Manage versioning, model governance, and architecture data quality.
  • Support compliance assessments including necessity, utility, documentation sufficiency, and DON BEA alignment.
  • Develop recommendations, gap analyses, and targeted architecture improvement plans.
  • Assist in preparing submissions and updates for DON BEA Assertion Portal and governance reviews.
  • Facilitate workshops, OAs, interfaces, and architecture modeling.
  • Communicate findings, risks and ability to make recommendations.
