This position requires 4 days onsite in Brentwood, TN. Must be local at the time of application. This is an onsite role in Brentwood, TN, requiring attendance Monday through Thursday (4 days per week). No relocation package. SUMMARY: The Enterprise Architect - Applications defines, governs, and advances the company's application architecture strategy to ensure alignment with business objectives, technology standards, security expectations, and enterprise transformation initiatives. Serves as a bridge between business strategy, solution delivery, architecture governance, and technology execution. Evaluates, challenges, guides, and governs application architecture decisions so that development practices, technology selections, and application portfolios align with enterprise standards and long-term strategic direction.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is required.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in technology, software engineering, solution architecture, application architecture, enterprise architecture, or a related discipline is required.
  • Additional related work experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience designing, evaluating, or governing complex enterprise application ecosystems across multiple business domains is required.
  • Experience working with executive stakeholders, business leaders, architects, developers, cybersecurity teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and delivery teams is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an architecture leadership, senior architecture advisory, or comparable strategic technology role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or comparable cloud certification and SAFe Architect or related Agile architecture certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains enterprise application architecture strategies, roadmaps, principles, standards, and reusable reference patterns.
  • Translates business strategy and capability needs into technology-enabled application architecture direction.
  • Evaluates application architectures for scalability, maintainability, resiliency, security, performance, operational fit, and strategic alignment.
  • Guides application modernization, cloud adoption, platform consolidation, legacy transformation, and application portfolio rationalization efforts.
  • Defines and maintains design standards for applications, application programming interfaces (APIs), integrations, data flows, and platform services.
  • Reviews application designs, technical proposals, and development approaches for alignment with enterprise architecture direction.
  • Partners with development teams promoting best practices for application design, API development, integration, testing, deployment, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and lifecycle management.
  • Engages directly with other EA members to ensure consistency and alignment across the team and when partnering across IT.
  • Provides strategic guidance on technical debt reduction, solution quality, reuse, standardization, and sustainable application delivery models
  • Leads or participates in architecture review boards and technology selection reviews.
  • Ensures application decisions align with cybersecurity, data governance, compliance, resiliency, and operational requirements.
  • Communicates complex architectural topics in business-relevant language for executives, business leaders, product owners, vendors, architects, developers, infrastructure teams, and security teams.
  • Influences enterprise technology decisions through collaboration, architectural credibility, strategic leadership, and sound business judgment.
