About The Position

In the Office of Distance Learning at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the Enrollment Specialist will create and build relationships with prospective students to assist them in incorporating online learning into their busy lives. The ideal candidate will maintain frequent communication with prospective and current online students, as well as those who have stopped-out in order to influence enrollment and retention in online programs. This position reports to an Assistant Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years experience in student advising, enrollment management, customer service, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Work to build relationships with each prospective and current student and learn their career aspirations so as to advise them on the best online degree for their goals and how to incorporate online learning into their life.
  • Produce timely and effective responses to student inquiries leading to increased applicants for all hybrid and online programs.
  • Maintain consistent phone, text, and/or email communication with prospective and current students to assist students from the inquiry phase through graduation.
  • Collaborate with appropriate departments, such as Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate School, Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar and other support services to resolve individual student issues and ensure positive student experiences.
  • Ensure admitted online students have taken the necessary steps to start their program (ie., students have completed online orientation, advising, registration, financial aid processing). Advise the student in overcoming barriers to registering.
  • Deliver strategic, individualized retention strategies to ensure student persistence and student academic success targets are met.
  • Coach students as needed throughout their degree program.
  • Track student enrollment, persistence, success, and completion. Produce reports as needed.
  • Develop tools and strategies to remove common challenges online students encounter.
  • Develop tools and strategies to make the inquiry to graduation process smoother for our online students as well as the Distance Learning Office and staff.
  • Adapt work schedule as needed to support our working adult population.
  • Perform related duties as necessary to support the UL Lafayette Office of Distance Learning mission, goals, and objectives.
