Enrichment Teacher - Afterschool

About The Position

Responsible for implementing project-based learning curriculum and complimentary academic enrichment activities for the Summer Enrichment Program. This role involves developing and implementing a project-based learning (PBL) curriculum, creating a PBL calendar, and working collaboratively with a blended staff of teachers, paraprofessionals, assistant homework coordinators, and students. The position also serves as a program liaison with classroom teachers to ensure the completion and receipt of required pre- and post-Survey of Academic Youth Outcomes (SAYO). The Enrichment Teacher is responsible for all aspects of programming, including curriculum, program evaluation, student evaluation, and record-keeping for the afterschool program. They will also participate in all evaluation efforts for the afterschool program and manage program record keeping such as attendance and snacks. The role reports to the site supervisor, project director, and the Afterschool Advisory Board. Additionally, the teacher will work with staff to enhance student opportunities to learn and practice ELA and 21st Century skills, promote the afterschool program, foster cooperation between school and afterschool entities, and participate in staff meetings to share experiences and plan for continued partnerships. Auxiliary services, such as preparing materials and performing clerical tasks, are also part of the responsibilities. Facilitating the afterschool food program, attending monthly curriculum training, and working with the parent engagement facilitator on parent activities are key duties. Communication with parents regarding successes and conducting weekly listening conferences are also required. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Full knowledge of project-based learning strategies.
  • Ability to implement project-based learning curriculum.
  • Ability to work as part of a blended staff including other teachers, paraprofessionals, assistant homework coordinators and students.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion, understanding, acceptance when working with participants, families and staff.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly through written and verbal communication.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
