About The Position

The Academy is currently hiring a Middle School English Teacher for Grade 7 for the 2026-2027 school year. The Academy of Charter Schools is a public PK-12 school of choice located in Westminster, Colorado. Requirements

  • Experience in school environments, strong people skills, and ability to work within a team is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain from, or be in process with, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) for a valid Colorado Educator License within 30 days of hire.
  • Must possess the required license and endorsement.
  • If highly qualified by content test or semester hours, with no endorsement: applicant must possess a Colorado educator license with a passing score on a CDE approved content test or 36 semester hours in specific core content classes as determined by Human Resources.
  • Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Authorizer policies and building and department procedures
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Operating knowledge of information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within one month after entering position.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
  • Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Participate in ongoing professional training sessions.
  • Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
  • Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
  • Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Utilize The Academy curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare and distribute parent communications.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
