About The Position
The Moses Lake School District is seeking an English Teacher for Moses Lake High School. Requirements
- Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in English/Language Arts.
- Demonstrate mature behavior and the ability to use sound judgment in working with parents, students, staff, and the community.
- Knowledge of research-based best instructional practices for improved student achievement.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative nature with colleagues.
- Must have excellent attendance.
Nice To Haves
- Previous secondary level experience preferred.
- Extracurricular participation encouraged.
- Experience working with Google applications such as Google Drive, Google Documents, Google Calendar and Google Classroom preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of Turnitin preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach English courses at the high school level, including content and skills in English language, literature, composition, speech, and reading, using the district-adopted curriculum.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to create an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in various forms of assessment, including student self-assessment, formative assessment, and anecdotal records.
- Encourage students to think independently and express original ideas.
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff to assess and help students with health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors regarding student progress.
- Maintain professional competence through professional development opportunities.
- Help maintain a school environment conducive to learning.
- Be a contributing member of a Professional Learning Community within the English department, collaborating effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.
