About The Position
Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is hiring an English teacher for its Compass Program, an alternative education program serving middle and high school students who have experienced difficulty succeeding in a traditional learning environment. The program prepares students for a Regent’s diploma through small class sizes, individualized support, and grade-level small-group instruction in a supportive setting. It uses project-based learning to increase student engagement, offers exposure to community resources and academic field trips, and emphasizes communication between home and school. The program operates on a full-day block schedule in a structured environment with clear expectations, accountability for individual actions, and positive incentive programs. This is a full-time, 10-month position that follows the school calendar. The successful candidate must possess or be eligible for New York State certification in English 7–12.
