About The Position

This position is for a full-time English Teacher at the high school level, beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-based English Language Arts instruction, developing lessons that enhance various language and critical thinking skills, assessing student progress, and maintaining accurate records. The role also involves integrating technology, fostering student discussion and creativity, collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development and school activities, and maintaining effective classroom management. Compliance with school, district, and state educational standards is required. The position reports to the Building Principal and offers salary and benefits per the CEA Contract.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan teacher certification with appropriate English Language Arts endorsement

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based English Language Arts instruction for high school students
  • Develop lessons that strengthen reading comprehension, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills
  • Assess student progress using a variety of instructional and assessment strategies and provide timely feedback to students and families
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and classroom documentation
  • Integrate technology and a variety of instructional resources into classroom learning experiences
  • Encourage student discussion, collaboration, creativity, and independent thinking
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development, instructional improvement, and student achievement
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent conferences, and school activities as required
  • Maintain classroom management practices that promote respect, responsibility, and student engagement
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, district expectations, and state educational standards
