About The Position

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time English Learner Teacher for a school setting in Birmingham, AL. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in student success by providing high-quality English language instruction to English Learners, supporting their academic achievement, and collaborating with educators and families to ensure every student has equitable access to learning.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), English Learner (EL) Education, or a related field.
Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with appropriate EL/ESL certification or endorsement, or eligibility to obtain certification.
Knowledge of WIDA English Language Development Standards, WIDA ACCESS assessments, and best practices for English language instruction.
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

Assess students' English language proficiency using WIDA ACCESS and other state-approved screening and assessment tools.
Deliver engaging English language instruction that supports students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing development.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement instructional strategies, accommodations, and supports for English Learners.
Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and complete required state and federal documentation.
Participate in parent conferences, EL meetings, IEP meetings (when applicable), and collaborate with school staff to support student success.
Ensure compliance with Alabama State Department of Education guidelines and federal Title III requirements for English Learner services.
