About The Position

This is a temporary Long-Term Substitute position responsible for teaching appropriate grade-level standard-based curriculum to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, following school/district approved curriculum while the classroom teacher is absent for an extended period. The position requires the teacher to counsel students, monitor their behavior, observe and report on student performance, prepare educational materials, establish clear learning objectives, present subject matter using various teaching methods and technology, instruct students individually and in groups, prepare and grade tests and assignments, prepare student and attendance reports, and communicate with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student issues and coordinate instructional efforts. The role also involves leading for racial and educational excellence, working to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity, and believing in and supporting all students to ensure they feel seen and heard with access to high-quality education. Applicants must have a permanent home address in Colorado and be able to meet the physical demands of the position with or without accommodations.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
  • Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Observes, evaluates, reports, and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
  • Presents subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
  • Instructs students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
  • Prepares, administers, assigns, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
  • Prepares student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
  • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinates instructional efforts.
