About The Position

DSST Public Schools is hiring English Language Arts (ELA) Teachers for middle-school roles across multiple campuses in Denver, Colorado. The position is full-time, school-year, benefits-eligible, exempt, and in person. The anticipated start is the first day of new-staff training at the end of July for the 2026–2027 school year. Salary is $60,000–$78,000, based on aligned years of experience up to 10 years. A relocation stipend is offered to employees joining from 75 miles or more from Denver. ELA instruction at DSST aims to build students’ love of literacy and college-ready skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Teachers facilitate learning environments that prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong learning through close reading and analysis of complex texts. Grades 6–10 campuses use a shared curriculum and common instructional resources. Middle-school ELA covers grade-level Common Core standards across fiction, nonfiction and informational articles, poetry, novels, and short stories; some students may also receive curriculum-aligned intervention from their ELA teacher. Teachers receive ongoing professional development to strengthen curriculum knowledge and instructional practice. Grade-level and campus preferences are discussed during interviews. Teachers deliver rigorous, culturally responsive, grade-level instruction to approximately 3–5 classes per day, monitor student progress, build positive classroom and school culture, and engage in coaching and professional development. They may also take on additional duties such as student recruitment, small-group advisory, and after-school tutoring. DSST seeks educators who believe all students can succeed and reach ambitious postsecondary goals, and who are proactive about learning and receptive to feedback. A bachelor’s degree in any field and demonstrated content knowledge through an accepted in-field qualification are minimum qualifications. Experience serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students is ideal. A Colorado teaching credential is preferred but is not required for most opportunities. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for ongoing hiring needs.
