About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is recruiting for an anticipated English Instructor to join our team at Platt Technical High School, in Milford CT. This is a durational role with a projected end date of February 25, 2027. Through exemplary trade and academic programming, CTECS prepares trade-bound students to meet the skilled workforce needs in Connecticut. A CTECS English Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering effective, differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all students, including implementing IEP and 504 accommodations. Responsibilities include fostering a positive and well-managed classroom environment, engaging students through effective teaching and assessment practices, collaborating with colleagues and families, and maintaining professionalism through ongoing reflection, professional development, policy compliance, confidentiality, and student safety.

Requirements

• Possess an active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in one of the following areas: 015 (English) certification OR be Eligible for a State of Connecticut teaching certificate in subject area (includes ARC candidates).
• Must possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Engage in intentional planning to prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom through differentiation
• Knowledge of English content and pedagogy of all high school English curricula
• Understand the varied needs of each student
• Work collaboratively with guidance personnel and other support service educators to assist students with special programming; ensure IEP and 504 accommodations/modifications are implemented
