About The Position

The person selected will be expected to organize and teach any courses offered in the English program. This includes preparing complete course syllabi and outlines. The instructor will work with the English Department to develop and maintain a relevant community college curriculum and assist in facilitating appropriate transfer/articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities. The role involves facilitating student learning by developing every student’s abilities and designing varied learning environments, which may include laboratory, distance learning (interactive television, online), and accelerated courses. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend classes, and collaboration with staff in related academic support programs is expected. A commitment to and participation in the shared-governance process is also required.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition
  • OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism
  • OR Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of English
  • Applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District (YCCD) by the application filing date.
  • Alternatively, applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement.
