Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for Adjunct faculty to teach courses in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position are accepted on an ongoing basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area. Prepare course syllabi addressing targeted student abilities, specific competencies, textbook requirements, grading/assessment methodology, course scheduling, and/or other items as required. Conduct all class sessions according to schedule. Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to cover the ESOL Program Student Learning Objectives for the specific course(s) taught. Use student-centered teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation, and collaboration and engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills. Organize and explain content using methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences. Assign and provide feedback for in- and out-of-class work; monitor student progress. Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements. Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy. Provide regular, timely reports to students of academic performance including current grades in course(s) taught. Demonstrate commitment to the program, division, and total institution by timely attendance and submission of required grade, attendance, or other miscellaneous reports to the administration. Other related duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
