We are looking for candidates with knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and College and Career Readiness standards. Candidates should understand that the most important part of the program is to be student-centric and relevant.
Requirements
- Knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies
- Knowledge of College and Career Readiness standards
- Student-centric approach
- Relevant curriculum delivery
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Minimum BA degree
- Minimum two years of experience teaching adults
Nice To Haves
- TESOL Certification
- Experience teaching Beginning English language learners
Responsibilities
- Conducts classes for 12 hours per week, per class
- Utilizes a variety of approaches to maximize the learning of a range of students
- Incorporates learning on such issues as workplace skills, health literacy, and financial literacy, into the program
- Motivate students
- Recognizes student achievement
- Assures that teaching is relevant to student needs
- Participates in established CARF Standards
- Monitors and reports attendance
- Assures that essential topics related to life and work skills constitute the major portion of class time
- Prepares students for post-tests which delineate progress
- Maintains contact with department staff to address attendance concerns
- Utilizes SmartBoard, computers and/or iPads with students on a regular basis
