This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will apply standard engineering methods to design, develop, and implement new or revised manufacturing & production processes for the efficient/economical production of aerospace products. Responsible for integration of design requirements into processes and procedures through research and development of manufacturing methods, tooling and equipment, facilities, and systems to produce a quality product. Leads planning and development of engineering artifacts to enable the turning of raw materials into finished and discrete products that satisfy design/system requirements. Provides guidance to design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensuring that production processes and procedures are in compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations.

  • 3+ years direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
  • Can demonstrate creating English work instructions for technicians and inspectors
  • Ability to develop processes compliant to industry quality systems such as AS9100.

  • Perform in a hands-on engineering role and serve as a liaison between elements of design, test, manufacturing, and operations.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing process: receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, integration, test, and refurbishment.
  • Disposition and investigate root causes of discrepancies; implement preventative/corrective actions.
  • Create in-build redlines and recommend engineering changes to improve design.
  • Troubleshoot and operate equipment as required.
  • Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) across the product life cycle, and drive continuous improvements.
