Requirements

  • Associates degree in related field or 2 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of Mechanical or test lab experience, preferred.
  • Experience with Data acquisition software and hardware a plus, particularly National Instruments Labview.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools pertaining to mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions pertaining to assembly, testing, and procedures.
  • Ability to verify dimensions of parts and installation of components using measuring Instruments including calipers, micrometers, tape measure, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Operate “machine shop” equipment to modify parts tested or fabricate experimental parts for testing, for example mill, lathe, and drill press.
  • Understanding of fluid fittings and proper installation. (Hose and fitting identification).
  • Proficient with MSWord and MS Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • 3D CAD experience, especially Solid Edge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team members with test apparatus design, test apparatus assembly, and assembly of prototype ultra-high pressure waterblasting components.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Recommend test apparatus and procedure improvements, especially safety improvements.
  • Follow procedures for all inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and proper accounting charges to R&D accounts are made.
  • Manage testing supply, tool, and fuel inventories.
  • Perform all work in accordance with engineering procedures to ensure safety, environmental compliance, and consistency of test data.
  • Set up and operate measuring and testing devices, including pressure transducers, thermocouples, and laser and magnetic speed sensors.
  • Record test data in a neat and orderly fashion and in a timely manner per directions.
  • Help maintain the organization and cleanliness of the test area, especially the organization of tools.
  • Operate ultra-high pressure pumps to support production testing of waterblast tools.
  • Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as required.
