About The Position

As an Engineering Technologist on our Engineering & Design Services (EDS) team, you'll play a key role in helping customers transform innovative concepts into manufacturable products. Working directly with customer designs, you'll evaluate manufacturability, prepare quotations, and collaborate with our production teams to ensure projects move efficiently from concept to manufacturing. This position exists to ensure customer designs meet Protocase's manufacturing capabilities while maintaining the speed, quality, and precision our customers expect. You'll work closely with engineers, manufacturing teams, procurement, and customers to deliver an outstanding experience from quote to production.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Mechanical Engineering Technology program.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD software, including SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Procurement experience.
  • Experience working with programmable manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery or Cincinnati press brakes.

Responsibilities

  • Review and quote customer designs based on build-to-print specifications.
  • Analyze customer CAD models using SolidWorks.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to customer projects.
  • Procure and process AS9102-compliant aerospace customer designs.
  • Provide technical recommendations that improve manufacturability while maintaining design intent.
  • Collaborate closely with internal manufacturing teams to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement through accurate documentation and technical communication.
