About The Position

The Engineering Technician will provide a variety of support to production, quality, and engineering teams. They will be responsible for the improvement and implementation of procedures throughout the plants and will be involved in technique cards, testing, implementation and scoping of projects. This position will assist with the setup of new production systems and may train machinists, operators and inspectors. The Engineering Technician must have strong trouble shooting skills and knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes and calibration tools.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6+ months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience using basic measuring equipment such as microscopes, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Ability to use or learn complex laboratory equipment, such as SEM/EDS, Auger, TGA/DSC, Acoustic Imaging Systems, and Dilatometers, as required.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, written instructions, and manufacturing documentation in English.
  • Basic understanding of statistics and data analysis.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and spreadsheets.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately with small parts and hand tools.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods while working on the production floor.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Willingness to wear finger cots, masks, and/or cleanroom apparel as required.
  • Must be eligible to work in an ITAR-controlled environment.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing methods, process sequences, work instructions, and other documentation used in the production of finished products.
  • Follow established processes and build prototype-level products to meet customer quality and delivery requirements.
  • Support the startup, operation, improvement, and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve productivity while maintaining quality standards.
  • Perform engineering tests, analytical and diagnostic evaluations, and DOE activities as directed by Engineering.
  • Inspect parts throughout the manufacturing process to ensure they meet specifications and tolerances, including dispositioning rejected parts when needed.
  • Perform complex setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, programming, and calibration of mechanical and electrical manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues and support root cause and corrective action activities using tools such as 8D and 5 Why analysis.
  • Coordinate onsite equipment repairs and work with outside contractors or subcontractors as needed.
  • Lead small projects and take ownership of assigned results with guidance from Engineering or senior-level technicians.
  • Work closely with manufacturing employees, including operators, inspectors, and machinists, and provide training or technical guidance as needed.
  • Review or inspect the work of lower-level technicians and operators to ensure processes and quality standards are being followed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
