About The Position

The overall function of this position is to be responsible for assisting a professional engineer and/or higher level engineering technicians in the performance of drafting, design, and survey work. The incumbent will use engineering-related software programs to plot and draft complex engineering or survey drawings. They will also prepare contract proposals and contract documents. On-the-job training is provided. Knowledge of basic computer software is required.

Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.
• Knowledge of basic computer software is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional engineer in drafting, design, or survey work.
• Utilize a thorough knowledge and understanding of Department procedures, policies, standards, and specifications in the drafting or designing of construction plans.
• Apply DOTD engineering policies and procedures to normal work situation in the District Design Office and/or in the field.
• Use CADD and other engineering-related software programs to complete engineering drawings and/or survey.
• Prepare contract proposals and contract documents for more complex projects let at the District level.
