About The Position

This position will be responsible for assisting the Engineering team with product and process development for new products, transfers, and sustaining projects. The role involves executing engineering studies, reviewing protocols, building prototypes, and operating test systems. The technician will also support process validations, test method development, and root cause analysis. A key aspect of the role is performing test data analysis, identifying unexpected results, and organizing data using Excel and Minitab. The position also includes day-to-day ownership of the engineering laboratory, maintaining organization, material storage, and sample disposition. Communication of study status, risks, and issues is essential, as is collaboration with various departments to ensure documentation, training, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or High School Diploma or equivalency
  • 7+ years’ of process and manufacturing experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Experience following work instructions, process documentation and procedures to ensure safe operating of all equipment while producing high quality work.
  • The ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes using scientific principles and resolve issues related to production quality.
  • A team-driven attitude to work together and support department initiatives such as 5S.
  • The ability to complete production paperwork, which includes inventory accuracy.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications required; strong facilitation and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be able to communicate complex information to all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated high quality computer skills including MS Office.
  • Must be detail-oriented and produce high quality work in a high-volume environment.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Ability to remain flexible and open to change within a fluid global industry.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employees must not be specifically barred from working with Federal contracts, government entities or otherwise listed on excluded parties list as maintained by the Federal government.

Responsibilities

  • Execute engineering studies supporting feasibility, process development, design verification and validation, and sustaining changes.
  • Review and provide feedback on assigned protocols, test plans, and data collection plans.
  • Build prototypes and development samples and execute controlled engineering builds.
  • Prepare, condition, label, and handle test samples in accordance with instructions while maintaining complete product traceability.
  • Operate test systems including but not limited to tensile test equipment, vision measurement systems, and basic metrology equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Support and/or execute process validations, test method development, test method validations, development builds and testing, root cause analysis, and assembly line development.
  • Perform test data analysis and identify unexpected results and protocol deviations.
  • Organize and analyze data using Excel and Minitab; prepare tables, graphs, basic descriptive statistics, and clear study results.
  • Maintain day-to-day ownership of the engineering laboratory, including organization and 5S, material storage and sample disposition.
  • Communicate study status, risks, and issues; deliver complete work on schedule; and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations on documentation, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
