About The Position

The Engineering Technician II supports engineers and manufacturing personnel with product builds, inspections, equipment qualification, documentation, data collection, and initial troubleshooting. This position performs semi-standardized technical assignments that require sound judgment, attention to detail, and practical problem-solving skills. The technician will work both independently and under the direction of an engineer or supervisor. Responsibilities include building and inspecting small medical-device components under a microscope, operating vision and inspection systems, accurately recording data, supporting equipment and tooling qualifications, and assisting with manufacturing documentation. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a cleanroom manufacturing environment, responding to changing priorities, and collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production personnel. A proactive, flexible, and “can-do” attitude is essential.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in engineering technology, manufacturing technology, electronics, mechanical technology, or a related technical field, with 3–5 years of relevant experience; or High school diploma or equivalent with 7–10 years of relevant technical or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to perform precise, repetitive assembly and inspection activities under a microscope.
  • Ability to operate vision systems, microscopes, measurement equipment, and basic manufacturing tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, procedures, and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation and data entry.
  • Basic understanding of tooling, equipment, manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to follow approved procedures while recognizing and communicating unexpected conditions.
  • Proficiency with computers and commonly used programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and adjust to changing engineering and manufacturing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with appropriate direction and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, products, and inspection techniques.
  • Demonstrated initiative, dependability, flexibility, and a positive “can-do” attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in medical-device manufacturing, regulated manufacturing, cleanroom operations, or precision assembly is preferred.
  • Experience performing detailed assembly or inspection under a microscope is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Integer’s Values and all applicable safety, environmental, security, and quality requirements, including the Quality Management System (QMS), FDA regulations, company policies, operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Builds and assembles prototype, development, and production-equivalent medical-device components according to drawings, work instructions, and verbal or written engineering direction.
  • Performs detailed product assembly and inspection under a microscope.
  • Operates microscopes, vision inspection systems, measurement equipment, and other tools used to evaluate product quality and dimensional requirements.
  • Accurately records inspection results, process information, observations, and experimental data in approved datasheets, forms, and electronic systems.
  • Sets up and performs engineering experiments, trials, tests, and development builds under the direction of an engineer.
  • Inspects tooling and equipment and assists with the preparation, execution, and documentation of Installation Qualification (IQ) activities and reports.
  • Assists engineers with developing, editing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing work instructions, inspection instructions, datasheets, and other controlled documentation.
  • Reviews documentation for clarity, accuracy, completeness, and usability on the manufacturing floor.
  • Provides on-floor technical support to R&D and Production personnel by answering process and documentation questions and performing initial troubleshooting.
  • Identifies product, process, tooling, equipment, or documentation issues and promptly communicates findings to the responsible engineer or supervisor.
  • Supports troubleshooting activities by gathering information, documenting observations, inspecting product, and assisting with basic equipment or process evaluations.
  • Assists with the setup, evaluation, modification, and maintenance of tools, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing processes within the technician’s training and authorization.
  • Provides practical feedback to engineers regarding manufacturability, tooling, equipment operation, inspection methods, and work-instruction effectiveness.
  • Supports training of personnel on approved equipment, inspection methods, manufacturing processes, and work instructions, as assigned.
  • Writes or contributes to technical reports, qualification reports, test summaries, and other required documentation.
  • Maintains organized work areas, tools, samples, records, and equipment in accordance with cleanroom and quality-system requirements.
  • Collaborates effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and other departments.
  • Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, ownership, and a positive, solutions-oriented approach to assigned work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
