Under supervision, the Engineering Technician performs a variety of paraprofessional engineering, drafting, surveying, inspection, and technical support duties for the Mono County Public Works Department. Responsibilities include assisting with engineering design and construction projects, preparing and maintaining maps and technical documents, conducting field inspections and surveys, processing permits, supporting traffic and erosion control studies, and providing technical and administrative support to engineering staff. Engineering Technicians may assist with project coordination, construction inspection, surveying activities, grant applications, public inquiries, and maintenance of engineering records and drawings. Work is performed in both office and field settings and may involve operating technical equipment, conducting site investigations, and supporting public infrastructure and transportation projects throughout the County. Higher-level positions may provide lead direction, training, and increased responsibility for field surveying and project-related assignments.
