About The Position

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking a dedicated and skilled Engineering Technician to join their team. The technician will also perform tests on road and bridge building materials to ensure they meet NDDOT specifications. Additionally, the role involves assisting project engineers with checking and organizing project final records and with district design work using MicroStation. Necessary training and support will be provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required with basic understanding of job-related concepts (for Engineering Technician I).
  • 2+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis (for Engineering Technician II).
  • 4+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis (for Engineering Technician III).
  • 6+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis (for Engineering Technician IV).
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather and on uneven/slippery surfaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid North Dakota Class D driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interest in construction and engineering.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Material testing is preferred.
  • Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis. Related MOS codes include Horizontal Construction Engineer (12N), Geospatial Engineer (12Y), Technical Engineer (12T), and Engineering (3E5X1).
