About The Position

This Engineering Technician position supports Launch Vehicle Processing for the Artemis Launch Vehicles at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. The role is integral to the COMET contract, which is responsible for the overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations. These efforts support major NASA programs including the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services. The technician will work in a team environment, performing flight hardware assembly operations, and conducting testing and validations of both flight and ground systems, adhering to detailed instructions and schematics. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the mission of launching people to the Moon and Mars.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical training in the applicable area of expertise.
  • Required certifications.
  • 18 years of related experience and technical training and certification as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be able to follow work instructions.
  • Must be able to interpret engineer drawings.
  • Must be able to follow stringent work area rules and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Must demonstrate moderate level of proficiency in mechanical or electrical technical operations.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must be able to pass SCAPE physical.
  • Must be able to maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to work Weekends and Off-Shifts, if required.
  • Must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency (due to hazardous testing facility).
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Support Launch Vehicle Processing of the Artemis Launch Vehicles at Kennedy Space Center.
  • Perform flight hardware assembly operations.
  • Perform testing and validations of flight and ground systems.
  • Work to detailed instructions and schematics to perform work in all aspects of flight hardware.
  • Participate in training requirements to obtain all necessary certifications to perform assembly work.
  • Follow work instructions, interpret engineer drawings and follow stringent work area rules and safety protocols.
  • Accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Travel to support position requirements, which may include travel to and from customer locations, potentially involving airline travel or personal vehicle use.
  • Comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by federal contracting officers and the company.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
