About The Position

ASRC Federal Systems Solutions, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, requires a highly motivated Mechanical Technician to support the ASTROS Contract as an Engineering Technician III. We are looking for someone with great Mechanical ability, some Heavy Equipment and possess solid rocket propellant mixing experience. ASRC Federal is supporting cutting edge propulsion systems testing at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and we are looking for the best people to be a part of this research.

Requirements

  • The ability to Weld is a plus.
  • Ability to operate equipment, like a Crane, Loader, Backhoe and Forklift.
  • Experience bending a variety of tubing.
  • Experience flaring tube and use of Aerospace connectors.
  • Must be able to tear down and repair relief valves or pumps.
  • Must place Safety of self and others ahead of everything else. All support must be well thought out, with safety in mind, before started.
  • Must have ability to work within a defined schedule and communicate any deviations.
  • Must be able operate a variety of heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to read a blueprint.
  • Must know about and be able to use basic hand tools.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to gain access to the customer’s computer networks.
  • Will be required to work Overtime or support different work shifts with little to no notice.
  • Will be required to work in the Mojave Desert. The weather outdoors can be extremely hot or extremely cold.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in extreme cold or excessive heat.
  • Must be licensed and able to drive a vehicle.
  • Must be able to work at either extreme heights or well below elevation.

Responsibilities

  • Basic knowledge of building construction and components (HVAC, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and landscaping).
  • Have experience with solid propellant mixing and testing operations
  • Experience to support X-ray operations
  • Experience with casting, mixing, sample prep and test execution ensuring quality control
  • Receive daily instructions and provide feedback and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to plan safety into every aspect of the work.
  • A person that can prioritize tasks in constantly changing environment.
  • Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Will be required to work overtime and or work different shifts with little notice.
  • Must have great customer service skills and be able to communicate the status of jobs and understand deadlines.
