Requirements

  • An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing road and bridge work for compliance with project specifications
  • Help check grades, elevations, and layout details with contractors and survey staff
  • Observe placement of concrete, bituminous materials, and drainage components to confirm proper installation
  • Provide visual compaction checks for soils, aggregates, and other materials
  • Record daily details, calculations, quantities, and updates using manual and electronic systems
  • Create sketches, gather photographs, and track progress to support inspection summaries
